The first regional chamber in Zawoja was set up in 2000 in the Primary School no. 5 in Zawoja Gołynia and is situated in the catechistic building. The curator of the musem is a former headmaster of the school – Zofia Bugajska, she is also the founder of the folk group 'Babiogórcy'. The exhibits you can see in the museum were gathered by the inhabitants of Gołynia.
The museum is divided into a few parts:
-
Craft – there is the biggest number of exhibits especially connected with processing wood or linen.
-
Farming activities
-
Household chores – connected with producing bread, butter, processing milk, lamps etc.
-
Outfits, embroidery, local patterns – a wedding outfit from the beginning of the XXth century
-
Exhibits connected with a regional folk group – 'Babiogórcy' (which has been performing for 47 years) and a folk group 'Zawojanki'. Apart from prizes and certificates you can see here interesting photos from many performanses of 'Zawojanki'.
Creating this museum, the locals wanted to protect all the parts of Babia Góra culture which have remained till today and keep them for the future generations.
