'Bacówka' – a shepherd's hut, as well as the whole farm had to be organised in a proper way. Some recommendations, such as access to water from a mountain stream were caused by practical, everyday needs. The others referred to believes. A shepherd's hut couldn't be erected on the site after fire, so that the situation wouldn't repeat. It couldn't be built of wood that comes from a tree struck by a lightning, so that it wouldn't face the same danger. It was important for it to stand close to a coniferous tree, because an ever-green tree is a symbol of life and prosperity.

A furnace – a special place for a bonfire (watra) was situated on the right side of a shepherd's hut, because it is a consecrated direction. A furnace – a unique, sacred place. Fire was lit by the senior shepherd with a friction strip or with a so called 'fire drill bit'.... it was pure fire, which was welcomed by all the shepherds with the words: Praised be Jesus Christ. If the fire (watra) went out it was a very bad sign.... what's more the shepherd could lit it again. He had to go to the third shepher'd hut on the way and get fire there......
