Shepherds who have come to the Babia Góra area have brought their culture - different types of food, architecture, folklore, believes, names etc.

The senior shepherd (baca) was the leader but he also was a vet, a doctor, cheese maker, a folk magician, he also knew a lot abou herbs. He was the person responsible for the sheep of many farmers.

A shepherd's hut couldn't be erected on the site after fire, so that the situation wouldn't repeat. It couldn't be built of wood that comes from a tree struck by a lightning, so that it wouldn't face the same danger. It was important for it to stand close to a coniferous tree, because an ever-green tree is a symbol of life and prosperity.
